Over the past 2 years we have watched Owen grow and thrive in large part due to the care he receives through programs sponsored by the Down Syndrome Association of Pittsburgh. The largest beneficiary of the association is the Down Syndrome Clinic based at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. The association covers approximately 26% of the clinic's budget. Owen is fortunate to have such an amazing medical team close to home.
They, along with DSAP, have been instrumental in helping our family understand Owen’s diagnosis and an invaluable resource for direction on the best methods for his development. Their annual events like the Holiday Party, Idlewild Day, and the Buddy Walk have helped Elliot and Felicity understand Owen’s diagnosis and see that kids with the same extra chromosome are just like them. This years Buddy Walk fundraising is especially important due to the difficulty facing the association with the restrictions in place due to the pandemic.
