We're supporting: The 27th Annual Pittsburgh Buddy Walk by Down Syndrome Association of Pittsburgh

Team Captain(s) : Amber Shojaie

Pitt Occupational Therapy is excited to support the Down Syndrome Association of Pittsburgh through the 2021 Buddy Walk.

As current and future occupational therapists, we work closely with individuals with Down syndrome across the lifespan.

"Occupational therapy practitioners work with persons with Down syndrome to help them master skills for independence through self-care like feeding and dressing, fine and gross motor skills, school performance, and play and leisure activities" (AOTA 2021).

Beyond that, our department does research to further develop interventions to serve individuals with Down syndrome. This is a cause that is near and dear to all of us and we are happy to support!
