When Adeline was born, and the doctor told us she had Down Syndrome, in that moment we were shocked, confused, sad, and scared. It wasn't the plan. We allowed the fear of the unknown and our own ignorance to grief-stricken us. Then a nurse assured us that while this wasn't what we expected, it didn't mean it wouldn't be beautiful.
The nurse was absolutely right.
Adeline is pure joy. Our family has been welcomed with open arms and loving hearts to the Down Syndrome community and we've already met such lovely and caring individuals. I continue to be inspired by the amazing people I may have otherwise never known, had it not been for Addie.
We walk to support inclusion, acceptance, love, and of course little Adeline!
